Avast 8 Released

Posted on 7:51 AM by Unknown

Today February 28th the long awaited avast 8 is now released to the public and is open to windows 8 however it does not seem to be supported on Macs at the time of this post. I will cover what makes this such an upgrade to avast 7 and talk about the new features that are included in this major update to the worlds most popular antivirus.

Free Features

Antivirus: As always all versions of avast get access to their award winning antivirus engine. Which has been rewarded time after time by av-test.org.

Remote Control: All of the avast products come with the ability to control your computer or have your friend control your computer to solve an issue. This is a great tool and to stop someone that is controlling your computer you just have to move your mouse and take manual control this can stop people from infecting your computer if you give someone the password to the connection.

Limited Software Updater: You do get access to the software updater you have to do it manually thought the automatic is for internet security and up.

Browser Cleanup: This is very simple if you install something that has a bad reputation like Babylon or an ask toolbar then Avast can help you get rid of it.

Pro Antivirus $39.99

Secure Banking information: Avast pro and above allows you to protect your banking information  which is a must have for today's growing use of online banking. It offers you a lot more protecting so your vital account information will not be stolen by some sort of online hacker.

Surf Risky Sites? They have another form of online protection, and they have improved their avast web rep to be in real time so that we are more secure than before. They have made the updates to the web rep stream in real time which is how they are now far better than before because you used to need to update the entire engine separately. But now you get all the updates in what they call near real time.

Internet Security $49.99

Sandbox: Avast Internet Security allows all users to load programs into the sandbox, and if it is found to be malicious in nature then you will not have to worry; avast will prompt you to delete it. This is a must have for today's growing use of trojans.

Two Way Firewall: Avast internet security gives you a powerful to way firewall that blocks outgoing and incoming connections. This is far better than the standard windows firewall which only blocks inbound connections. This basically means that if a hacker is trying to get into your computer from another location he will fail. also if he already got into your computer then the firewall will block the connection.

Secures Personal Data: This is meant to protect you from getting your banking information and other forms of passwords from getting logged and it avoids you from going into a malicious site. This seems to be a little repetitive since they have already secured your banking information and it blocks phishing scams.

Blocks Phishing Scams:  This protects you from going to an illegitimate website and protects you from malware that gets in from your computer. It will also protect you from downloading fake antivirus programs that are trying to hijack your computer. These programs will try to force you to pay to remove malware that may not be on your computer in the first place, but now they have your account information and your money that you spent on the product.

New Avast Premier $69.99

Keeps Your Programs Updated Automatically: From what I was able to do in the beta this is a much needed work in progress because there are not a lot of supported programs when I was in the early beta I noticed that it only updated my browsers.

Lets You Remotely Control Your Computer: This can be thought of as a remote desktop which I did a full in depth analysis on what a remote desktop is. This can be thought of as another TeamViewer, but you are paying for it. So this can be a no dealer for you because there are many other free programs that do the same thing as this but for free.

Can Securely Wipe Your Hardrive: Personally I don't feel that this feature is necessary because a hard drive wipe is pretty secure in the first place however it is very secure in the sense that anyone can use this to do a proper hard drive wipe. So if you need to wipe your hard drive and don't know how to do it let this program do it for you because it makes it far better.

In Conclusion

Avast 8 is far better than Avast 7 so you should upgrade as soon as possible. A far as buying the premier upgrade it is up to you if they work on the auto update feature then this will definitely be the best program that Avast has ever made the new features are great and they don't seem to slow down the computer that much considering they have reduced the amount of RAM that is needed for the program to run. But if you have the money get Avast Internet Security if you really want to buy the Premier version then you need to be willing to spend $70 on a 1 year license.

Swag Bucks Review

Check out the full review after the jump

Does The Website Pay?

Yes the website does pay, and I paid 4 times with 5 dollar amazon cards. Those were what I picked there are hundreds of prizes that you can choose from. It was either that or Paypal cash, but I figured it was going to be spent on Amazon anyway. So to answer the question yes it does pay and I have been paid several times. I am going to get paid again real soon or maybe I will save it up for the Paypal withdrawal.

Is It A Safe Site?

Yes Swagbucks is a very safe site there is nothing on there that would violate Adsense policy which they do use google ads so that they can keep giving away the prizes that they do. I have never encountered anything on there that is wrong and you will not have to worry about you or your children running into any sort of adult content. If you are not quite sure go to google and type in webutation then the site URL if you are not sure after that try scam advisor. If that is not enough for you try web of trust so those 3 sources should be good enough for you.

Who Can Use The Website?

The terms of use require you to be at least 13 years old to use the website but you need parent approval so you can use the website and then reap all the rewards for yourself. So if you are a minor and are looking for some way to get cash online then this is arguably your best bet because it is one of the few sites that does not require you to to be 18 years old. Now the issue that some of you might run into is that you will have to give your address in case you order an item such as an IPAD because how else are they going to get it delivered to you just have your parents do it or if you have their approval do it for yourself.

Should I Use This Site?

The answer to that question is all personal preference but if you are a minor or an adult that is looking for some extra cash coming in this could be a way for you to bring in a little extra. Just don't expect to make a living off of it that is impossible. But if you are a minor then I do recommend that you go ahead and use the website until you can get a job.

How do i sign up?

You can sign up by using the link below
swagbucks.com/refer/Knowitall11

When you notice it is a referral link and i wouldn't do this normally but they don't take anything away from you or themselves. If you don't feel comfortable with signing up under a referral link then you can use this link but it would be a nice gesture to use my link.

Remote Desktop Program

Posted on 8:00 PM by Unknown

Many of you will be wondering what is a Remote Desktop Program and if I need it. The answer to those questions will come in due time, and I will give you my favorite remote desktop program not only because it is free but it is really easy to learn as well which is good because many people have not been exposed to this type of software before. Now below I will cover many aspects of this type of software and if you did not figure out what program it is from the picture I will tell what it is and explain why I chose to use it.

What Is A Remote Desktop Program?

This is a program that allows you to remotely control a computer from another location. So for instance I can go over to my friends house and as long as I have the program running on my computer and the computer is on then I can connect to it via the internet. This is very useful especially if you are an IT guy and need to connect to your work computer to solve an issue, so you don't need to go all the way down to your office to solve the issue. This type of software is very useful, and with the growing age of "smart devices" we are able to control computers from our phones and tablets.

Is It Secure?

It really depends on which program you are using if you want to determine its safety. However many of these programs have a password that you have to set, and you can generally set it up to only allow certain IP addresses to connect to your device. In the program that I use you have a randomly generated password and username each time so you either have to log in via that information or if you are connecting from your phone you have to connect by logging into your account. These are the common ways to block people from hacking in and taking control of your computer not to mention they would have to know that you have this software in the first place.

What Program Do You Recommend?

I recommend a program called TeamViewer this program is free to use for personal use, and they have their price listings on the website for corporate and business use. I recommend this program because it is free, secure, and it is really easy to learn. Not to mention the fact that it works on Linux, Mac, Windows, Android, and your IOS devices. The program is also updated to be compatible with all the latest versions of the operating systems.

What Can I Do With TeamViewer?

You can as I said remotely control your computer or another one that you have access to. You can even control them through your mobile device it is only usable on IOS and Android. This is useful if you are away from your computer and need to connect to it to start a long download or something and you won't be home for a while. These are the main features of the program because a remote desktop is not really complicated and it does not need a ton of features because you have your computer on your phone that is a ton more features than you had before.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a free remote desktop software use TeamViewer and get it on your mobile phone, so you can set up all of your accounts. You can get the program by going to Google and typing in TeamViewer, or you can click the link below.

Top 5 Antivirus Apps For Iphone

Posted on 5:00 PM by Unknown
Many people are wondering what antivirus should I use for my IOS device. Well it is hard to say exactly but I will give you my top 5 based on test results and their product features. Note that these are going to be for IOS there is no certainty that these apps will be on your Android device stay tuned for that post where I can give you my first hand pick on my top 5. Now you will notice that this list is short, and there are not a lot of products to choose from the reason for that is Apple has rejected some major companies from making a mobile antivirus.

1. Avast! Secure Line VPN    Paid Only

iPhone Screenshot 1
Avast which is an award winning antivirus offers its security to the IOS unfortuatley like most iPhone apps it comes with a price. So this is not a free antivirus which is strange since it is free for Android. I am questioning their motives behind this, but it is probably because people who use Android are typically in a business environment unlike that of the iPhone which is mostly used by teens and children. So if you are willing to pay for an award winning antivirus this is your best bet.

2. Norton Identity Safe (Protective Browser Not A Full Suite)

iPhone Screenshot 1

This is a security app for your iPhone that gives you safe browsing of websites that have been scanned by Norton. So you could argue this is your website protection, but it will not protect you from your apps. There is also the fact that you can safely store all of your apps in the Norton cloud.

3. Lookout Antivirus (Free, Antivirus)

iPhone Screenshot 1
This security app has been growing in popularity over the years and is definitely your best bet for an antivirus that is free for your IOS device. There are many reasons for this and the main reason is Apple says no you may not create that app. Now this app includes a tracker that will allow you to track down your phone if it is ever lost or is stolen.

4. Trend Micro Mobile Security

iPhone Screenshot 1
Trend Micro is not a well known antivirus company, but their products have always done pretty well on tests and they have proven to be okay, but they also have a bad reputation. But their mobile app is definitely worth looking into because you will see what they have to offer. The best thing is it is one of the very few antivirus for the IOS devices they also have a lot of other apps that offer you more forms of security that you might want to look into.

5. McAfee WaveSecure

McAfee has been known to do moderately okay as far as tests go, but they are far from the best. They don't fail the antivirus tests, but they don't do anything amazing which is why it earns its self a spot on this list. This is a full fledged antivirus for your IOS device, but it will cost you money which many people are not willing to do. But if you trust McAfee over Avast then buy this product, but if you are going to pay then use option number 1. The app barley made the list but I gave it as an option but I don't personally recommend the product because McAfee its self is not great on tests.

CNET Malware Removal

Posted on 3:45 PM by Unknown

Cnet/Download.com is a very popular tech site that over the years has given products bad names by installing toolbars without their permission. Now there are 2 things wrong with that idea 1. The software companies don't include them CNET has the decision to do it which is why they are practically on every major download now CNET does probably pay them a percentage or maybe not. 2. You are not forced to download anything and I will elaborate on that after the jump. CNET is a safe and trusted site, and I am not trying to insult them in anyway all I am trying to say is you (the reader) need to be careful when downloading from there.

CNET Gave Me Malware!!!!
No it did not you gave it to yourself when you are in the download screen you uncheck the box and then click agree to the terms and service.. HELLO that are you agreeing to download that toolbar regardless of it being unchecked. You have to click deny agreement or decline or something along those lines that is the only way to completely avoid downloading of toolbars. So follow the steps below on the necessary tools that you can use to remove the toolbars and their effects. If they are followed then it should be as if they were never there.

How do I remove CNET Malware?
That answer is simple download a tool called Iobit Uninstaller, and it has an option to remove toolbars completely. Or do the steps above to avoid getting malware in the first place. This is technically a form of Spyware/Adware because it collects information about you that is not passwords but browsing activity. So if you have downloaded malware just uninstall it through the Iobit Uninstaller which is linked to download it. If you still feel that you are not safe I recommend you download Spybot search and destroy or Malwarebytes.

Can I Still Trust CNET?
Yes CNET is a very reliable website and in no way was i trying to make them seem like the bad guys most of my software is downloaded from there and I am very active on the site. I just want you to remember that they are doing it for money. It is not cheap hosting thousands of programs and having millions of downloads their servers are expensive, and they use those optional toolbars to help pay for the program. So CNET is not trying to do you any harm it is a business and if they are going to continue offering the free service they need a way to pay for it. Now granted CNET probably makes more money than they know what to do with they are still not to be in question as far as your security and privacy.

Why Do Companies Use CNET?
The answer is actually very simple it is cheaper and easier. Why would a company like Avast! want to set up their own download servers when they can use Cnet who can make money and is already well established and a very trusted company. So CNET basically has the backing of those companies that use it so don't think that the publishers are to blame it is the hosts.

Is There Microsoft Word App?

Posted on 1:55 PM by Unknown

May people when on the go want to be able to work on their documents whether it is for school or their jobs they need to work. So they naturally will go into their phone's app store and say where is my office? The answer is simple Microsoft does not make the app and they don't plan to. This has allowed Google to buy one of the products called Quick Office, so they can compete with Microsoft. So I will be giving a list of office replacements that are free.

Read more after the jump

Is there Microsoft office mobile?
Microsoft does not offer a mobile version of their office for android and Mac devices. Many people need to work while on the move so they will go and Microsoft does not seem to have any motive to make one they are offering a web based office suite called office 365. But they are not aiming to create an app dedicated to word.

What Are My Options?
Your options are not as limited as you would think and I will cover free programs that you can use and I will cover office 365. There are some apps that offer the functionality of an office suite. The free programs are quick office which is included on Android devices and the other is king soft which is extremely similar to word. You can also use office 365 however it is web based and I find it to be more awkward when trying to write.

Which Do You Recommend?
I personally recommend using quick office since it is easy and it offers a lot of functionality. It also has arguably the cleanest interface it is also does not look completely look like Microsoft word. Not to mention unlike the King-soft it has a PDF reader which means that you won't need Adobe reader. Also since Google bought quick office you can be sure that this is a trusted company.

Do I Need To Pay for a Mobile Office Program?
No you don't you will see some office suites that are charging 15$ on the Google play store which is too much. The worst part is people continue to buy it thinking they are getting their money's worth.

CX Cloud Storage Review

Posted on 5:48 PM by Unknown

CX cloud storage is a fairly new business that has entered the cloud storage business and it is trying to compete with the major competitor Dropbox. So I will go over what my personal experience was with this product and I will highlight all of its unique features and what I hope they can achieve.

What Is CX Cloud Storage?

CX Cloud Storage is a brand new face in the cloud storage industry and they are gaining momentum with business' but they seem to lack the connection with the average user. They do not have the average Joe using the product since most of them are using products like Dropbox, Google Drive, and Skydrive. The main reason for this is people don't know this company and are not ready to trust it hopefully that will change.

CX cloud storage is a trusted company by many business and they are offering some unique features that most cloud storages don't. This fact is why I think the product can and will succeed in the business world and maybe even the general populace will use it. They will offer you 10 gigabytes  free and all you have to do is log into their website once every 15 days. This may come across as a little strange, but I think it is a good thing because it will allow them to update you without sending emails every other day.

What Puts CX Above The Rest

CX offers users the ability to create groups these groups will allow you and your friends to share files a lot easier and the best thing is you can choose what they are allowed to see. Now you may be thinking well why does this matter to me? The answer to that question is simple say you are doing a presentation for your business tomorrow and you need to send your friends all the files so that they can have a copy and this can be sent to all of your associates. Or if you are a student you can set up a group for you and your classmates and share all of your notes so that you will have multiple ways to get the information. Or if you missed a day and needed notes they can send it to you.

Not to mention that it has a very clean interface and I think that it is a lot cleaner and easier to navigate around compared to its competition not to mention the 10gb storage which is a very good incentive to get new users. So if you are looking for a better way to organize your business and school work then you should really try this product.

Cons

There are some bad things about this cloud storage the business its self does not seem to be doing as well as other companies and this could cause issues later. Another thing is I want them to change the rule that you have to log into the site once a month because we don't need to be on there and they have many other ways to give us any new updates. Also if it is once a month you will generally see the changes I really doubt that they are going to be doing any major updates every 15 days it sounds more like a pipe dream.

Do You Recommend It?

Yes I do recommend this product to anyone who is in a business and wants to share the files easily as well as to students who want to collaborate with their friends to get more work done. They do offer a paid service that will unlock more storage space. They separate their prices by corporate users and then your average user which is probably you who is reading. So if you are looking for a more professional cloud storage that allows for easier collaboration then you need to try CX.

What Is A Trojan?

Posted on 6:42 PM by Unknown
In this post I will be answering what a Trojan is what it does and how to protect yourself from it. There above video will allow you to listen and read or do one or the other they are truly for your own entertainment and they will both get the message across.

What Is A Trojan? What do they do?
A Trojan is a type of malware that is created to steal personal information from the person that has it. They were created for this exact purpose not to mention the fact they are the most common type of malware. They will search through the files on your computer and attach its self to one and hide its self so that you won't be able to delete it unless you are handy with computers. They will then leech off of the file along with other process' on the computer and take the information that it needs. The worst part is it can do this without you knowing that it is doing it and if it gets into a file that you use to save your bank information you are in serious trouble.

How do I tell if I have one?
There are many signs that can range, but you will generally be able to tell by going into your task manager and seeing an unknown process or you will see an unusual slow down with your computer. These are the 2 most common ways to identify that your computer has been infected by malware. Other signs that could be too late is strange and unknown changes of your account information this is a bad sign. If they get access to your bank accounts, contact your bank immediately. If it was a credit card put a fraud alert on it, this way they have to show ID if using it. If an account such as your gmail account was hacked follow through the support that the website has to retrieve and try and contact customer support.

How Do I Remove A Trojan?
Well removing a Trojan can be tricky because you will generally have other forms of malware on your computer that can stop you from removing it. The best way is to download an antivirus program such as Avast! or run a scan with either of these two programs. Hitman pro and Malwarebytes if non of these will download then you are being blocked by another form of malware then get on another computer and download the Avg rescue disk and then either burn a disk or put it on a flash drive. This will remove any of the programs that are making it impossible to download an antivirus software.

How Do I Prevent An Infection?
There are many things you will need an antivirus program as i have said if it is free then role with Avast. If you are going to pay for an antivirus I recommend Bitdefender Total Security. You can also use a secure browser such as Google Chrome which from my own testing is the most secure browser at the moment followed by IE 10 and then Mozzila firefox. The last thing you can do is for your browser is get a tool such as Bitdefeder Traffic Light or avast web rep. This will tell you if a site is safe or not before you enter it.

What Is Malware?

Posted on 5:30 PM by Unknown

Above is a video that I recommend watching before you go and read the entire post because this can do a summary of it and it will also give you the option to listen as well as read, so you can retain the information.
Read my full in depth post after the jump!

What Is Malware?

This is the very basic question that I am going to be answering. The answer is simple malware is short for Malicious Software. Many people will try to tell you that is a virus the answer is NO malware is the starting point viruses are a branch of malware. Don't get the 2 confused not to mention viruses are actually becoming less and less common and are being replaced by Trojans which I will explain in a later post. Trojans are already  the most common type of malware that you will encounter online. You will be thinking okay well then what is a virus? Hold on that will have to be a whole separate post it's self since these things are not black and white some forms of malware fit under the gray area.

What Is Malicious Software?

Malicious Software is the direct definition, but this is not a 100% true definition because for something to be classified as malware it does not have to be a program it can even an internet cookie of which some can be classified as malware. So you will be thinking that is great and all but how is something determined as malware. The answer to that is simple malware is basically any form of file/program/cookie anything that you can find that causes damage to your computer or data. You can look at it like this if you have downloaded a program from an unknown website and your computer start's slowing down or it downloads other programs without your consent that is malware. It is difficult to give a good analogy for it so if the above analogy does not make any sense disregard it.

How Do I Prevent Malware From Getting On My Computer? Free version

The most security you will ever get for free will have a set up like this.
Go here and download avast antivirus
Go here and download Comodo firewall
Optional Can conflict with bad updates.
Antispyware

These three programs if set up properly will give your computer the best security (according to testing and features) for free. Between these you have an award winning free antivirus a firewall that is known to be the best free one on the market and an antispyware that has had years of experience.

How Do I Prevent Malware From Getting On My Computer? Paid Version

Bitdefender Total Security 100% detection rate on av-test.org (this is not 100% safe these were the results of 2 tests)
Firewall: This is included in the total security suite.
Antispyware: Included with the package you can go to the above link if you want an on demand scanner,

Order and Chaos Online Review

Posted on 8:05 PM by Unknown

Order and Chaos online is one of the very few mobile mmorpgs on the market and while it is not free it will be worth the $6.99 that you spend on it. This game is very impressive and it offers you an entire world to explore. Read the full review after the jump.

What Is a mmorpg?
The 2 most basic features any mmorpg must have is a persistent world and the ability to play with other players. As long as these two things are met then you have yourself a mmorpg. The best part about this game is it has the chat system and it really does feel like your traditional mmo, but it is available on your mobile device.

Why Should I Buy This?
The real question that everyone asks when it comes to buying an app and the real answer is all personal preference. Do you want to spend money on the app? If no then disregard the rest of the reasons that will follow If you are willing let me give you a reasonable answer. This game is one of those that you can sit down with your friend and plan out a raid and sit down and play together. It allows you to plan and it will let you meet new people from within the game that can you help you later on. It will also give you and your friends something to work together on and there are hours upon hours of content for you to go through. Not to mention the benefit that you will see with this game compared to a traditional mmo is the fact you can take the game with you.

Are There A Lot Lot Of Players?
This is a question that will be difficult to answer, but you can argue that it does have a lot of players the app alone has over 100k downloads which is a lot of people. Now you need to realize that they are across the different servers that the game has and those people are not always on or even still have the app. But the main point of the game is it was meant for you and your close friends (close as in location wise) could play together and are able to talk together. That is what makes the game fun you can relate it to Fun Run another popular app. In Fun Run sure it is fun to play online but it is a lot better when you have your friends right next to you, so you can be like Good Game or STOP WITH THE MAGNETS!!!!! So if you are looking for a game that you and your friends can play I highly recommend that you play this game.

Score   9.5 out of 10
The game earns this, but the main reason it does not earn the solid 10 is because while everything about the game works perfectly the game is not very open to new players. To elaborate on that if you are a new player and don't have anyone to play with you will be very bored unless a kind group of people invite you and will hang out with you. But congratulations you guys deserve this score.

What Is A Diatomic Element

Posted on 6:57 PM by Unknown

Most people when you ask them what a diatomic element is they answer with something along the lines of  "How would I know?" this is sad because it is in the name. I will break it down in a simple manner and give you the 7 diatomic elements. You will also know why it is they are called diatomic elements.

What Is A Diatomic Element?
Let me break the word down when you see the prefix DI it means 2 and atomic comes from the root word atom. So 2 atoms is what you will end up reading. Then an element is anything on the chart above and possibly other items that have not been discovered yet. So this word in a more scientific sense means that a Diatomic Element is any element found in nature that is paired with it's self. So you can't have 1 H atom you can have an HO but not 1 H. So it would be an H2 if found isolated.

What Are The Diatomic Elements
Remeber Cl-I-F-Br-O-H-N
The seven Diatomic Elements are Chlorine, Iodine, Fluorine, Bromine, Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Nitrogen. These are the only elements that cannot be found isolated in nature they all have the subscript of 2. The easiest thing to do is remember the saying above and you are bound to get them memorized.

When Will I Use This In Life?
This question is annoying but to be honest if you are not planning on getting a science major then you will never need this and will never use this. So one student reading this is why am I learning this? the answer to that is simple you are reading it because your school district requires it to be taught and to be taught a certain way. So don't go blaming your teachers they are supposed to follow the rules set forth by the district.

Advanced Systemcare Ultimate Review

Posted on 7:27 PM by Unknown

This is one of those ideas that does not come along very well or has as many opportunities in it as Advanced SystemCare Ultimate. This is why many people have taken interest in Iobit's software and are using it at home.
Read the Full Review after the jump!

What Makes It Ultimate?
This version adds a full fledged antivirus program along with all the other features that would come with the Pro version. Now many people will be wondering why are there not tests with this or their Malware Fighter Pro. The answer is simple go to av-test.Org's recent test with Bitdefender and then you will have your answer. The program uses Bitdefender's antivirus engine. Which as most of us know is the best engine on the market by the personal users test and av-test.Org test. So you can trust the engine, but this program really lacks in protection types. It lacks the features that most antivirus programs have, but they have a really basic antivirus that is built into the program which as  we all know and love.

Should I Use This Or Find Another Program?
If you are looking for a full fledged antivirus program then I recommend that you go out and buy another one Such as Avast Internet Security or Bitdefender Total Security. Those two are arguably the best on the market. However if you are looking for a small program that won't lag your system down then give this a shot. But don't expect it to compare to the protection or quality that you would out of Bitdefenders suites. I say take the 30day trial if you hate it you hate it. If you don't want to spend the money pick up one of the free antivirus program that are on the market.

How Much Does It Cost
This program costs only 29.99$ which is about 1/2 the cost of the average antivirus, but it will offer you a lot less features. So if you have kids and are trying to keep their computer safe then use this or get a program like Avast!, which is also the same price. So the price has pretty reasonable considering you also gotten all the features of Advanced SystemCare Pro.

How Many Pc's Does It Cover?
Their website says that it will support up to 3 separate computers which is a good deal if you are looking to get this program for your kids or even your own computer. You will also get their full customer support which I don't have any comments on, but I think it might be questionable due to the company being based in China, so I am not sure if they have anyone in the U.S.A that could help.

How To Get Past School Wifi Block

Posted on 6:48 PM by Unknown

May students go to school and have their Smartphones and try to access websites and you will always get this pop up something like website blocked or error loading page. Then it will show you a link to your school districts policies and regulations. So today I will be showing you how to get pass your schools WiFi blockage with a free app for your iPhone or Android device.

What Is The App?

The app is called Hotspot shield as the picture above shows, and it is basically a mobile proxy severs. What this means is your phone will connect to their servers and will change your IP address to one that is on their server. This will show you entering the server as another outside IP that the school does not know and cannot block.

Is The Program Free?

The app itself and it does offer a paid version which offers a lot more features than the free to use version app and it will get rid of their ads.  Also if you think the service is good thing about getting a paid version of it so that you won't have to worry about the ads popping up and you will get some more reports.

Is This App Secure?

According to Hotspot Shield's Terms of Use, all of your data is encrypted, and is not saved. However, as is always, it is advised not to use it to connect to anything important such as a bank account in a public location.

What Devices Is It On?

This app is available on your Windows or Mac computer and it is available on the Android and IOS. This is one of the only working ways for me that allows me to get pass school blocking. This is a well known proxy and if you have any questions or concerns please ask them and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.

Now if you are on an Android head my warning that if it gives an error saying it can't connect to the network all you have to do is reset your phone and then you will be able to use it.

Hootsuite Review

Posted on 4:32 AM by Unknown

Hootsuite is a program that allows you to share your posts across multiple social networks without collecting any of your personal data. I personally use Hootsuite and I think that any big time Facebook or Twitter users should use this amazing program.

What is Hootsuite?

Hootsuite is a program as I mentioned above that will allow you to share one post across multiple social networks with one click. This makes it so much easier than logging into each of the pages individually. I personally use this and I find it to be the most useful tool that I have when it comes to social networking. The reason that this is so great is it allows me to get my website updates out with one message across multiple places.

Should I Use Hootsuite?

Yes if you have a website or are tired of trying to micromanage all of your posts then use this to get it done faster and get your name out faster. I also would recommend that you create and get a lot of followers on as many social networks as you can so that your name can grow even faster. Also if your website starts bringing in a lot of money then you should sign up for the professional package which gives you unlimited social networks to post your updates on. This is why I mentioned that you should sign up and get popular on as many social networks as possible.

Are There Risks?

Now as far as some bad reviews that Hootsuite is stealing their passwords, they are wrong and have no clue what they are talking about. Hootsuite does not collect your password it just has an app on each of the networks and connects to those each time you want to post something. So don't trust false reviews that say that this is a bad software/app it is not and if you don't want to believe I make a dummy Facebook account and try it out there and I am willing to bet nothing will happen.

What Does It Mean To Root Your Android

Posted on 5:09 PM by Unknown
Nexus 4
http://www.android.com/devices/images/device/nexus-4/large/0
As most people know the iPhone has the ability to " Jail Break " which gives the users more freedom and allows certain programs to be installed. However many people do not know what it means to root their Android Device. Since many people understand Jail Breaking I will explain using that. When you jailbreak your phone you are allowing yourself to run any code that was restricted by Apple hence why it is called " Jail Breaking". Now rooting on your Android device is similar in the sense of you breaking free.

What Does Rooting Allow Me to do?

Well since we established that this would allow you to break away more what does this do for you. The answer is simple you will practically be able to do whatever you want to your phone. You can change what OS you are running some people have done this with success you will just have to get one that is supported by your phone. It will allow you to give super user privileges in programs that require it. Such as avast! Mobile security which requires you to root for you to use the firewall. They are not trying to force you to root but it needs to access certain files in your system that it can't do unless you root and let it. Rooting is a very common practice by IT professionals, but unless you are tech savvy I recommend that you don't bother with it.

Are There Risks?

There are risks not legal issues which Google and all carriers are fine with rooting the risks come into what it is you change when you root your phone. Many people have turned their phones into bricks, which is essentially a paper weight that has no use. This is the danger with rooting a device however there are programs that say they can un brick your phone. You can root brick your device by downloading some malware app or installing a bad firmware. All that they do is attempt to factory reset your phone, so you will lose all of your contacts' photos, apps, along with anything else you have on there. But on the bright side you will get your phone back to a usable state.

Summary

There are plenty of benefits to rooting your device but you should not do it unless you are tech savvy or have a friend who knows how to do it and can explain to you what it is you should/should not do.

Free Ebook Converter And Library

Posted on 6:16 PM by Unknown

Are looking for an easy way to convert and Organize your e books for free? Well the solution is less known program of which I use personally that program is Calibre. Calibre is a program that will organize your e books and convert them to alternate formats such as PDF to Kindle and many other options. The best part about this program is that it makes it so easy to use and if you are in need of help the creator has a free e book that he wrote to help you even more.
Read more after the jump.

Calibre as you can see above may look complex at first however you will get the hang of things fairly quickly if you have ever used ITunes before then you will probably be more comfortable with the interface. The best thing besides its features is that Calibre is completely free and all the developer asks is that you share it and donate. You are not required to donate but it is a good thing since he did develop the program for free instead of charging you some outrageous price for it.. I have tried to find other programs like this on the Internet, and this is the only one that I can find that is free and offers so a wide array of features. The best part is that it does convert to kindle which means that you can convert to kindle and send in your own book to Amazon who will see the correct file format. Then they will see the layout which if it is wrong or not up to par if not then they will reject you. The best thing is that once it is converted you have it that way, so you must either save a back up or convert the file back to its original format.

You may be asking how do I convert the Books. Well it is very simple all you need to do is right click on One of the books and click bulk or individually. Then a menu will open up and at your top right you will see output. Choose the file you want it to be converted to and hit okay. Don’t get confused by all the extra buttons they are just rules you can set to convert your books. If this is something that you find interesting and want to try it out click the link at the bottom of this post and download it from a safe site and reliable site.

* There are no viruses on CNET people don't realize that they are installing Ad ware by not reading what it says, (they are installing optional toolbars) if you want help feel free to post in the comments below*

Super Anti Spyware 5.6 Review

Posted on 7:40 AM by Unknown

Super Anti Spyware 5.6 Review

This review will cover my experience with Super Anti Spyware and basically picking apart it's cost of features. I am not here to judge the effectiveness of the programs detection rate, but I can tell you what it is I think this program is worth. There will be a video as well that you can watch just in case you do not want to read the entire review the video will sum it up. -Scott Hartley

Above is my video review of super anti spyware pro, but I was able to show you what you would not be able to use if you are a free user.

Free Users Only:

Free users will only get access to scanners. There are 5 scanners that you will have access to and they will all do something different.

Quick Scan: This will scan the files that are most likely to get infected cookies, temporary internet files, and some windows files. This is the most basic scan and is only used when you want to get rid of some tracking cookies.

Complete Scan: this scan will go through and scan every file that it has access to. There will be some windows files that it won't be allowed to scan for security reasons, but it will scan through everything in the quick scan and more. This scan should be used if you think that your computer is under attack by some sort of Adware, bloatware, or fake AV.

Critical Scan: This scan will go over the most important files on your computer most of the time it will be your system files (windows files) and it will scan everything that the quick scanner scans. This is used if you feel your main system has an infection and you are having a hard time trying to do basic windows functions.

Custom Scan: This scan will allow you to pick what files are being scanned most of the time unless you have a good idea what is wrong with your system then you should not use this scan type. If you are in IT then be careful because there have been people who scan the wrong files and they end up deleting something important from the system.

Rescue Scan: This scan you should not use unless your system is heavily infected. The reason is this will scan everything and has been known to be over sensitive this will also take a long time no matter what system you are on. DON'T USE UNLESS YOU ARE OVERLY INFECTED.

Professional Edition $29.95

You will get all of the above features and you will also get the listed items below.

Real-time Protection: This feature will actively protect you from spyware and adware from getting into your system. THIS DOES NOT REPLACE AN ANTI VIRUS PROGRAM. When using this you must remeber to have some sort of anti virus running and if it has a built in firewall allow the super anti spyware to go through. If not there might be a confliction despite what the SAS website says.

Automatic Updates: Basically does what it says it will automatically updates your software for you based on a time schedule of your own choice.

Schedule Scanning: You will get the ability to schedule your scanning. Not a whole lot to say about that... Schedule it at a different time from your antivirus software and make sure the computer is on at that time.
